How to get a trading account

Why you need three things
Shares need a demat home. Live orders need a registered broker. TMS is the common way to place orders yourself online.
No TMS yet? Many brokers still take orders by phone or chat and enter them for you. Ask your desk what they allow.

Demat
Stores shares after you buy. Like a bank account, but for stock.
The path of a buy
Papers you will need
Citizenship - both sides, clear photo.
National ID (NID) number - required for new TMS KYC. Many brokers ask for it on demat too.
Passport photo - often white background.
Bank account number and bank name.
Mobile number in your own name.
Email address.
NID is now hard for new trading accounts. Demat is catching up - bring the number either way. Names on citizenship, NID, and bank must match.
What you do, in order
Pick a broker
Open nepalstock.com.np → Members. Choose one near you or one your bank works with. (Kraya partner links come later.)
Apply at that broker
Online KYC or in person - on the broker’s own channel, not on Kraya.
Submit KYC
Form + documents with the broker. Double-check spelling of your name.
Wait for approval
Often about 3 - 7 working days. The broker usually texts when ready.
Collect credentials from the broker
Demat number, broker account number, and usually TMS login for self-serve trading.
Real snag example
Same person. Two spellings. KYC stops.

Mismatch. Fix the bank name or refile KYC before TMS arrives.
If something stalls
Name mismatch - align bank and citizenship, then resubmit.
Photo rejected - follow the broker’s photo rules and retake.
Mobile not in your name - fix ownership at the telecom first.
Silent after a week - call the broker desk, don’t only wait on chat.
